Manitoba-Saskatchewan Conference Has a New Conference Executive Secretary

Saskatoon, SK — On March 18, 2020 the Board of Directors of the Manitoba-Saskatchewan Conference voted, due to travel restrictions and health concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, to postpone the 2020 Quinquennial Constituency meeting until April 2021.  The Board’s very next action was to elect Christine Bergen as the next conference secretary, a position which had been vacant since Dec. 31, 2019.  Bergen will take up her duties on May 1, 2020.

Christine Bergen served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Newfoundland SDA Mission from 2010 until 2019.  Born and raised in Newfoundland, she moved to Alberta in order to attend an Adventist university (now Burman) and met her husband Joe Bergen.  They have been married for 31 years with two children, Mark and Teresa as well as a son-in-law, Clinton Wahl.   To date they have four grand cats and a grand horse.

Christine has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, from the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 2010 with Great Distinction.   She has over 20 years of office experience with at least 14 of those years in a supervisory role.  She has a great love for people and a strong work ethic.  “I am humbled to be asked to serve in this role and excited to be able to use the skills and abilities that God has given me to advance His work.  May all that I do bring glory and honor unto His name.”

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nunavut comprises approximately 4019 members, 42 churches, companies, and groups, and four schools. Their mission is to carry out the commission of Christ to lead people to salvation in Jesus, teach them Biblical faith and the Christian lifestyle, equip them to serve their churches and communities with their God-given abilities, and prepare them to meet their soon-coming Lord.

 

 

Celebration of a Newly Organized SDA Church

 

On Sabbath, November 23, 2019 was a high day for the members of the New Perspective Community Company and the many visitors that joined them. On this day Pastor Michael Collins, Man-Sask President and Pastor David Baker, Man-Sask Secretariat officiated at NP Community Company becoming the conference's newest church. 

Adventist Church Will Kick-start 100 Days of Prayer on March 27

The Seventh-day Adventist Church around the world is calling on all church members to join its 100 Days of Prayers beginning March 27 to July 4, 2020. The prayer initiative initiated by the General Conference Revival and Reformation Committee, was originally intended to focus on praying for the 2020 General Conference Session for June. However, since the session has been postponed for next year, the focus has now shifted to praying for the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to be poured out on the church, to empower members for mission during this time of the pandemic crisis.

As social distancing is prevalent around the world today, the church must press together, united in prayer, to seek God’s strength and power, Adventist world church leaders said.

“We will continue to pray for the Holy Spirit outpouring on our lives, our church, and on our leaders,” said Pastor Ted N.C. Wilson, president of the Adventist world church in a letter. “In addition, we will also be praying for all the people infected with COVID-19 or who have loved ones suffering. We will be praying for those struggling in isolation, for wisdom for our government leaders, and for the advancement of the mission of our church in these challenging times.” To read the letter, click
