Let God Remind You

Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:18-19

On a quiet morning, when all I could hear was the sound of the wind, my heart was in touch with the Almighty, and the stage was set to tell the Lord, “Here I am, speak, your daughter listens.” There on my knees in the presence of God, I decided to not speak a word before the Lord. I came to Him so He could talk to me, after all He already knew my worries, my anxiety so there was no need to tell Him how I felt. I decided to listen to my God in silence, and He did speak. To my mind came His mercies, the times that He opened a road in the desert and the many times He opened rivers in the dry land.  There He was impressing my heart with the difficult situations that I had encountered in the past; marvellous experience, how could I forget it, and how could I not tell others about it?

In our journey with God, many times we are so in a hurry to tell the Lord our thoughts that we do not give Him the space to speak to us, His word says, “be still and know that I am God.”

God loves to show up in the stillness of the soul, when we are quiet is when the greatness of His power is manifested. We don’t have to remember the “things of old”, the times that we were strengthened, the times He took us over the mountains of difficulties, when we flew as renewed eagles, full of strength and vigor.

Let us give Him the opportunity to bring to our minds those beautiful memories in the stillness of our soul. Pour out your heart and be quiet, cry if you must, but remain quiet, and allow the Holy Spirit to carry your mourning with unuttered groanings before the Father, and I assure you that He will speak to you.

Lamentations 3 says: “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Let him sit alone and keep silent, because God has laid it on him.”

May God help us to remain quiet before His presence so that He can reveal His power in our lives.
